Prairie Oaks consists of woodland, oak savanna, tallgrass prairie, wetlands, and gardens, all of which are connected by hiking trails and pathways. Since 1996, thousands of trees have been planted on the reserve and 1.5 acres of tallgrass prairie have been established. We continue to expand and encourage the growth of these diverse habitats by planting native species and slowly removing invasive species brought by European colonizers. This is an ongoing project that aims to foster and encourage the growth of pollinator and wildlife populations throughout the seasons.
